๐ท๏ธSpot Trading
Trade spot markets with ease on Blitz.
Spot Overview
Spot refers to the buying and selling of actual assets, as opposed to derivatives contracts on the underlying such as perpetuals. This type of trading is commonly known as a swap on DEXs.
Traders also have the option to turn ON leverage when trading spot. This feature enables the traders to buy or sell more of the asset than they currently against their margin. The exchange automatically borrows the required assets for the user to execute the trade.
How to Place a Spot Trade
-> Hover on Trade
in the navigation menu (click on it for mobile).
-> Select the Spot market you want to trade in the drop-down. You can change markets once on the trading page also.
-> Decide if you want to use leverage or not by toggling it ON / OFF.
-> Decide if you want to Buy or Sell the asset.
-> Decide the order type:
Market: the trade will be executed immediately at the best market price.
Limit: the order will be filled only at the price you set or better.
Stop-Market: See the Stop-Market Tutorial.
-> Enter the size of trade you want to take.
-> Or use the slider which will enter a % of your max trade size.
-> You can review the trade order summary.
-> Click on the Buy
or Sell
button to place the order. You will need to sign the transaction if you do not have One-Click Trading enabled.
Leveraged Spot Trading
As mentioned above, by turning ON leverage traders can buy or sell more of the asset than they currently hold.
The exchange will automatically borrow assets for the user to execute the trade. This is facilitated through the integrated money market and made possible by portfolio margining.
For example:
Joe has $100 of USDB and $100 of BTC.
Joe wants to buy $200 ETH.
Normally, Joe would need ~$200 USDB to buy this amount of ETH, however because of the exchange's automatic borrowing mechanism, Joe can borrow USDB against his account's margin.
Joe places the trade which is executed and he now has $200 ETH and a borrow of -$100 USDB.
Borrowing assets and trading spot with leverage can increase your risk.
